My VERY unsatisfactory experience with AcesDeals.biz

I've been a photographer practically all my life, and have always had an interest in aerial photography. SO, after learning about, and researching quadcopters, I decided to take the plunge and by a DJI Phantom 2 Vision +.

Upon this stellar recommendation by Jim Bowers on his YouTube channel (click here), on Nov. 10th I bought a Vision +, an extra battery, an extra battery charger, and a set of propeller guards from AcesDeals.biz.

My Vision + arrived in a timely manner. When I made my initial order, Peter Ellin (the proprietor of AcesDeals.biz) had failed to mention that the propeller guards and battery charger were back-ordered. I learned this when I called him and asked him why they weren't in the box.

After doing all the steps of the initial setup, I went to a clear area, did the pre-flight steps, and attempted to take off. Unfortunately, the right rear motor was defective, so the quadcopter never left the ground.

I went home and immediately called Peter. He said, since I was under warranty (I'd only had posession of the Vision + less than 24 hours), to send him the quadcopter and the remote control.

I wish that I had recorded THAT conversation. He pressed me VERY hard to admit that I'd crashed the unit. He also told me that the unit has a black box in it, and that DJI could tell whether I was telling the truth or not. Since I didn't record that conversation, all you have is my word that that's how it went.

The chronology so far is: 11/10 - ordered it; 11/14 - received it; 11/18 - shipped it back; 11/20 - was received by AcesDeals.biz.

The following Wednesday (the 26th) I get a call from Peter saying he's replaced the motor and would send the quadcopter, the propeller guards, and the additional charger to me on Friday (the 28th).

The 28th passes and I never get any tracking numbers from Fedex. I call him on Monday (the 1st) and ask him why I haven't received any tracking numbers. He said he would get back to me in an hour. He never did get back to me. Our next conversation was when I called him four days later on the 5th.

So I think to myself--since practically everything he'd told me so far is a lie--let me wait until Wednesday (the 3rd) and see if it shows up--nope. Okay, I'll give it 'til Friday--nope.

As Gomer Pyle famously said, "fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me." I decided to record (click on the following links) any ensuing conversations to prove that honesty isn't one of Peter's strong points.

I called him Friday morning (the 5th). Here's the ensuing conversation
(click here). Remember, I didn't use PayPal to buy the quadcopter, so it's irrelevant. Also, because he can see his shipping history on the Fedex website, if he'd for some reason "forgotten," he then KNEW that he'd never shipped anything to me on the 28th. Instead of fessing up, he continued the charade.

As I've said before, I don't trust anything Peter has to say so, after thinking about it, I asked him to e-mail me the tracking numbers (click here) .

He did get back to me within the hour. Because he COULDN'T e-mail me the non-existent tracking numbers, he sent me this e-mail (click here). How can a brand new unit not include the smartphone holder? He's also lying when he writes that "shipping records" exist (which will be confirmed in the next paragraph).

I then decided to call Fedex and ask them if Peter had sent me two packages on the 28th. OF COURSE he hadn't (click here)! I edited this particular file in order to delete my personal information and the on-hold muzak.

Finally, I called Aces Deals one more time to let them know why I'd cancelled the "brand new" unit (click here).

I consider the e-mail he sent me--along with the recordings--as PROOF that AcesDeals.biz is the most disorganized and unethical business I've dealt with in my life.

I sent the parts back to AcesDeals.biz on Dec. 8th, and he received the package today (the 10th). I will fill in HERE ( 12/10/14) the date that I receive my full refund.

Thank goodness I recorded at least a couple of conversations. I've learned a VALUABLE lesson: when dealing with--ESPECIALLY Internet--companies, record all conversations as proof of what was REALLY said/offered.

This is an account of MY experience with AcesDeal.biz. Take from it what you will.
